Recycling versus Re-Use
What About Reuse?
Charity Computers work on the adage that we re-use before we recycle.
Reusing computers and their components first is our aim. All our donated computers that can be reused are still tested, cleaned and pulled apart then rebuilt into new computers.
Reuse is the preferred option for disposal of your computer. Computers can be reused a number of times before it reaches its end of life. As a point of security we wipe all data using an approved process. Computers are cleaned, in some cases upgraded and donated or resold to people in need.
We all know about recycling...
All Australian homes have some kind of recycling program we take part in – be it curbside recycling or garden composting.
Recycling takes used materials and turns them into something completely new. We recycle our metal cans at home and they may end up as a completely different product.
Can I Drop Off Monitors and Peripherals?
In most cases there is a recycling fee of $20 for Broken and faulty monitors and $5 charge for printers that are donated without ink. We take any working computer monitors, and other computer accessories free of charge. Just drop them in to your local Charity Computers site.
